About Boston Cares

Boston Cares mobilizes more than 25,000 volunteers annually in support of Greater Boston schools and non-profit agencies. They offer a wide array of programs and opportunities that make it easy for you to volunteer no matter how busy your schedule is. Boston Cares is a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit public charity.

Their signature Calendar Program features more than 250 projects each month through which members volunteer at a variety of projects. These projects include: planting community gardens, serving meals to the homeless, cleaning parks, painting community centers, tutoring children, GED prep for adults, ushering at cultural performances, and much, much more.

Boston Cares offers several specialized programs.  For corporate volunteers, their Hands at Work program provides comprehensive project planning to ensure meaningful service for employees.

Boston Cares is the largest volunteer action center in New England. In 2010, more than 25,000 Boston Cares volunteers contributed 70,000 hours to 300 non-profits in the Greater Boston area.

Boston Cares is a member of the HandsOn Network, an alliance of volunteer organizations working to transform individuals and communities through service and civic engagement, with affiliates in 250 US and international locations.
